Referral letter

  • If you have a referral letter written in a foreign language, please translate it into Japanese or English before bringing it to the hospital.

  • Patients without a referral letter are required to pay an ※Elective fee of 4,000 yen (+ tax ).

※What is an Elective fee (Sentei ryoyo hi in Japanese):

This system was established by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to promote cooperation and division of labor among medical institutions and encourage patients to initially go to small clinics for consultations and go only to large medical facilities when specialized treatment is necessary.

Aside from the consultation fee, medical facilities with more than 200 beds are allowed to designate a specific amount to walk-in patients who come to the hospital without a referral letter.

  • Cash and the following credit cards are accepted.

    Union Pay
  • The hospital has no tie-up with overseas insurance companies. Travelers are generally asked to pay their medical fee at the hospital even if they have a travel insurance or a social health insurance in their country. Please pay your bill at the hospital first then claim your coverage from your insurance company by yourself later.

  • Please be aware that medical fees may be expensive even in an outpatient consultation if you do not have a valid Japanese health insurance.

Medical interpreting service

  • Language assistance is provided in the following languages to patients with limited Japanese proficiency:

    English: Monday-Friday 10:00-15:00
    Chinese: Monday-Friday 10:00-15:00
    Spanish: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00-15:00
    Portuguese: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00-15:00

  • ※Wait time for an interpreter may take longer at a busy time of day or when the interpreter is handling multiple patients at the same time.

  • Risks regarding use of ad-hoc or non-trained interpreters:
Interpretation by an ad-hoc interpreter may not be adequate due to incomplete knowledge of medical terminology. The hospital may use the hospital interpreter if considered necessary even if you have brought in your own interpreter or someone who can understand the Japanese language.
